September 13, 2020 – October 31, 2020
The Virtual Lake Hopatcong Perimeter Challenge was a six-week (beginning September 13 through October 31), 25.3-mile challenge across New Jersey’s largest freshwater lake. For over 12 years, Lake Hopatcong has been the home to our annual Lake Hopatcong Open Water Swim Festival featuring 2mile, 1mile, .5mile and 100meter kids swims. Our swim was to be held this year on September 13 but was canceled along with most other swim events due to Covid restrictions. This virtual challenge is a way to encourage fitness while exploring Lake Hopatcong. The 25.3 course leverages the same points as the Event Director’s solo swim in 2018, which raised funds for JTFD2. Since this is a virtual challenge and we want to encourage everyone to participate, we will have non-swimming categories too. We are hoping swimmers and others will jump into this challenge, track their progress on the leaderboard and map alongside others while helping raise money for our animal rescue, K-9 service teams and first responder organizations.
We encourage everyone to join this virtual challenge by swimming, paddling, running, cycling, or walking the 25.3 mile perimeter of Lake Hopatcong. Below are the defined segments and distance for each, as well as cumulative miles. After you register, you will be sent a personal link to track your progress.
